Time = Money is an online artwork by David Attwood that sees the artist post the same cartoon – a 1988 The Far Side cartoon by Gary Larson – to Instagram, every day.
Attwood is interested in the prophetic qualities of the cartoon and how its punchline resonates with our contemporary situation, where the temporal boundlessness of work (the ability or obligation to always be working) has indeed seen the commercialization of time. As Attwood puts it, “the posting of this cartoon every day then is a kind of job that I’ve given myself, one that reflects on work itself, and requires me to always be working, forever.”
